Your Baby is 18 Weeks Old!
He is 10 inches from head to foot. Right now, his hair is sprouting. Some babies are born with lots of hair and some with only a little, but most babies’ hair starts to grow now. Your baby’s teeth enamel is also developing at this point. Enamel is the hard, white covering on your teeth. In addition, by 18 weeks, ultrasounds have shown movement in the baby’s larynx, or voicebox. These movements are similar to the movements we make when we speak. Your baby also swallows a lot of amniotic fluid. This is very good for digestion and also gets the baby ready to swallow milk when he is born. Finally, the baby now has special areas in his brain for each of his 5 senses (smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch).
