Cecilia was a 2nd-century Christian from Rome. She was forced by her family to marry despite the fact that she had dedicated herself to Jesus. Focused on that commitment, Cecilia sang praises in her heart throughout her wedding ceremony. (That is why she is the patroness of musicians.) By God’s grace, Cecilia’s husband soon became a Christian as well and respected Cecilia’s wishes to be consecrated to Jesus. It is said that for their purity and love, an angel gave Cecilia and her husband a gift of roses and lilies.
